DBCS membership is open to all professional designers working in Singapore, design students of all disciplines, advocates of design and businesses who would like to learn more about what design can do for them. Open to recognised practicing organisations that offer in-house design services. There are two sub-categories for Professional Member (Corporate): Three-vote membership or Five-vote membership.
There must be a corresponding number of employees within the organisation who satisfy the individual Professional Member (Individual) requirements. Professional Member (Corporate) must satisfy the Review Committee that they have attained an acceptable level of competence in their field.
Each Professional Member (Corporate) organisation is entitled the number of votes at the Annual General Meeting as that stated in their membership sub-category.
Professional Members (Corporate) are entitled to use the initials CDBC in their stationery. Upon admission, all professional staff of the corporate member can be identified as members of DBCS.
Association / Institution
Open to recognised design/creative association/institutes whose members are professional designers or have in-house design professionals.
Association/Institute must satisfy the Executive Committee that they promote and provide professional design services. Each Association/Institute Member organisation is entitled 8 votes at the Annual General Meeting.
The sitting President of the member association/institute is entitled a seat on the Executive Committee. The member association/institute shall also appoint a prominent professional designer to sit on the Review Committee to help review the portfolio of members in the relevant discipline.
All existing members of a member Association/Institute member will not need to submit portfolio for review and may upon presentation of the relevant membership credentials via email and upon validation by the association/institute member be admitted immediately. Association/Institute Members are entitled to use the term, A Member of DBCS in their stationery.
Open to any organisation with an interest in design, design promotion and design education.
They are entitled to use the initials ACDBC in their stationery. Associate Corporate Members have no voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.
Open to all designers working professionally in Singapore. The designer must be a graduate of a relevant design course from a tertiary institution recognised by the State it is based in.
The designer must have been employed or practiced professionally in this design field for a minimum of four years, and can satisfy the review committee that they have attained an acceptable level of competence in their field.
Members of select international associations with reciprocal arrangements with DBCS or association/institute members of DBCS shall be automatically admitted to DBCS.
Each Professional Member (Individual) is entitled to one vote at the Annual General Meeting. Professional Members (Individual are entitled to use the initials IDBC after their name.
Open to all designers who have received a full-time education in design from a tertiary institution recognised by the State it is based in, and have practiced professionally for less than four years.
Licentiate Members will be reviewed automatically for Full Professional Membership upon completion of four years in professional practice.
Licentiate members have no voting rights at the Annual General Meeting. Licentiate Members are entitled to use the initials LDBC after their name.
Interested applicants must submit a relevant portfolio along with their completed membership form.
Fellowship is granted to Full Members who have by their professional standards and behaviour, demonstrated their eminence in their respective design field. Candidates must be nominated by at least three members of the Committee for consideration.
In certain cases, the Committee may propose a designer outside of the Chamber whom they feel have made a significant contribution to design in Singapore. Fellow members are entitled to use the initials FDBC after their names.
President, Vice-Presidents and Honorary Secretaries are automatically granted Fellowship following their terms in office in recognition of their contribution to the Chamber.
Should any President, Vice-President or Honorary Secretary not complete their term of office through ill health or other extraordinary circumstances, it will be at the discretion of the Committee whether to award the Fellowship.

Associate Members have no voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.
Professional Members (Individual) who are professionally employed overseas may convert their Professional Membership (Individual) to Associate Membership. They will retain their links with DBC while abroad, and are eligible for re-instatement to Professional Membership (Individual) upon their return to professional practice in Singapore.
Open to all students attending at the minimum, a diploma level design course from a reputed institute of art and/or design in Singapore.
Student Members have no voting rights at the Annual General Meeting. Upon successful completion of their course, Student Members are eligible for Licentiate Membership if they can satisfy the Review Committee that they have attained an acceptable level of competence in their field.
