Andrew Pang

President

Andrew Pang, founder of business design consultancy Lavaworks, also manages Egg Creatives – an integrated design agency with presence in Singapore and China. Backed by a mix of design flair, commercial acumen and analytical skills, Andrew is well regarded among his peers as an influential thought leader.

A strong advocate of the local design industry, Andrew played an active role in the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) and was the Vice-Chairman of the Design Advisory Committee. During that time, he conceived and co-chaired SingaPlural – the anchor event of Singapore Design Week. Andrew was also a representative at DesignSingapore’s Industry Development Panel which looked into the development of Singapore’s design industry. Impassioned with nurturing young minds, he taught as an adjunct lecturer in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and served as a member of the Board of Examiners for the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

 

Chee Su Eing

Ms Chee Su Eing is the Founder and Managing Director of D’Perception Ritz Pte Ltd, an interior design company which specializes in both Residential and Hospitality projects. With more than 20 years of experience in the Built Environment as well as Interior Architecture Consultancy and Contract works for Residential, Hospitality, Healthcare and Corporate projects under her belt, Su Eing works closely with her clients to deliver solutions that meld lifestyle, form and function.

Experienced in consultancy works for Overseas Hospitality Projects, Su Eing and her team’s projects have been featured in local and overseas magazines such as Home & Decor, Singapore Tatler, Square Rooms, Metropolitan Home and FORM. Led by Su Eing, her team’s collaborative project with GK Architects and the Wywy Group for a home in Sentosa Cove won an award in the Singapore Design Awards (SDA). More recently, three more of her team’s projects in the residential, hospitality and healthcare sectors were awarded the SG Mark (Singapore Good Design Mark).

Nav is Managing Partner of Ideactio, a Singapore-based business & design consultancy that specialises in designing Innovation, Experiences and Brands with clients. He possesses a unique mix of client-side perspective and agency-side knowledge accumulated from more than 14 years working on both sides, across Asia and Europe. He has advised public sector institutions as well as Singapore SMEs in a range of sectors. Some of them include RE&S, Harry’s & St James, STB, CNB, SBF, Eu Yan Sang, NTUC FairPrice, etc. to name a few.

Previously the lead facilitator to launch SPRING Singapore’s Education Innovation programme targeted at SME institutions delivering pre-school, school and tertiary education, Nav continues to work closely with SPRING Singapore and DesignSingapore Council in delivering quality innovation and branding programs to companies in Singapore. Nav has also been active in the business community, with most recently serving as Vice-Chairman of YEN Young Entrepreneurs Network at SICCI.

 

 

Ong Kai How

Kai How graduated from the Graduate School of Business, National University of Singapore with a Master of Science (Management) in 2002. In the early years, he was a part of Singapore’s leading economic development agency for tourism, The Singapore Tourism Board, which seeks to create a vibrant destination for both international visitors and Singaporeans. He oversaw many exciting portfolios including the promotion of Orchard Road as the premier shopping street and Singapore as a Global Schoolhouse.

Driven by an innate passion for design and limitless creativity, Kai How joins the largest premier private education group, Raffles Education Corporation Limited, which owns a vast network of 25 colleges and universities in 23 cities across 13 countries globally. Bringing his wealth of experience and entrepreneurial mindset, Kai How now holds several appointments such as the Director of Human Resource, Branding, and Education Tourism as well as Vice President of Singapore Operations.

 

 

 

Ulrich SchraudolphUlrich Schraudolph

Ulrich is Founding Director and Design Director at XentiQ, a Singaporean design consultancy. He has 25 years of product design experience, working many years in product design consultancies in France and Singapore, after studies in Germany, Switzerland and the United States, where he attended Art Center College of Design. He also holds a Masters in Human Factors Engineering from NTU. Ulrich’s client record includes multinational corporations like Colgate, Unilever, Alcatel, Sagem as well as SME’s in fields ranging from electronics and industrial equipment to furniture, optical and medical products among others. In Singapore he has been working in design programs for companies such as HP, Osim, Hyflux, Honeywell, Singapore Technologies, LUX Asia Pacific, Woodhead, smartBridges and Shell Solar.

Ulrich has been a consultant with the Korean Institute of Design and Packaging (KIDP) and a lecturer at CREAPOLE design school in Paris, the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), at National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Stanford Biodesign (SSB), among other lecturing activities. He served many years in the executive committee of DBCS, last as Vice-President (2011 – 2013).

 

 

Prof. Kristin L Wood

Dr. Kristin L. Wood is currently a Professor, Engineering and Product Development (EPD) Head of Pillar, and Co-Director of the SUTD-MIT International Design Center (IDC) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Dr. Wood completed his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at the California Institute of Technology, where he was an AT&T Bell Laboratories Ph.D. Scholar. Dr. Wood joined the faculty at the University of Texas in September 1989 and established a computational and experimental laboratory for research in engineering design and manufacturing, in addition to a teaching laboratory for prototyping, reverse engineering measurements, and testing. During the 1997-98 academic year, Dr. Wood was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy. Through 2011, Dr. Wood was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Design & Manufacturing Division at The University of Texas at Austin. He was a National Science Foundation Young Investigator, the “Cullen Trust for Higher Education Endowed Professor in Engineering,” “University Distinguished Teaching Professor,” and the Director of the Manufacturing and Design Laboratory (MaDLab) and MORPH Laboratory. Dr. Wood has published more than 350 refereed articles and books, has received more than 25 national and international awards in design, research, and education, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Based in Singapore since the early 90’s, Derek has been an integral participant of the themed entertainment, events & heritage exhibition market throughout the Asia Pacific region. His early career development in Sydney involved a wide range of commercial, retail and government sector projects, which culminated in the iconic Australian Bicentennial Exhibition. His international exposure has included projects in Europe, Middle East as well as North & South Asia, such as the German and Japanese World Expos in 2000 and 2005 respectively. Following his long-term position after Pico’s Senior Creative Director, he was appointed principal consultant & managing director of Carini Design Consultants in 2008 as well as forming the Creative EDGE Consultancy group – an international collaborative linking specialists from the UK, Australia and Asia.

With over 30 years in the exhibition industry, his experience in themed environments, museum, exhibition, events and interior design has made him a multi-disciplined expert with regards to creative, technical and practical execution of projects, providing a holistic approach to developing and realising design projects. The RWS Maritime Experiential Museum production-design consultancy is testament to his ability to undertake complex, large-scale projects.

Bojan is an architect by training but he has spent nearly his entire career in financial services. Passionate about Design Thinking, he is leading the Experience Design Department at OCBC Bank. Recognized as thought leader in customer experience, he is a major driver in the transformation of OCBC into a more client-focused company.

 

Sara Ang

Sara is a Director at Synergraphic Design Pte Ltd, a company that specialises in art and design in glass for interior and architectural applications. Since graduating from the Singapore Management University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management five years ago, she has joined her mother, Singaporean glass artist Ms Florence Ng, at the company to run and chart new courses for the business. Like her mother, Sara is passionate about finding synergies between art, design and function in the versatile medium of glass and with other materials, as well as making glass in its myriad applications more accessible to all.

 

 

 

Wu Xianyi

Xianyi is an entrepreneur with a broad range of experience in the design and product creation spectrum. Trained at the d.school at Stanford University, he co-founded d.light, a for-profit social enterprise that produces solar light and power products for 2 billion people who live without access to reliable electricity. He relocated to Shenzhen to work on every aspect of product creation from early stage ideation, to industrial design, to engineering and manufacturing. d.light’s products have won multiple design awards.

He currently leads a multidisciplinary design team at GreyOrange, a company specialising in robotics and AI solutions for supply-chain automation. He is in charge of the industrial design, experience design, as well as the strategic design direction for the company.

 

 

Bhavna Singhal

Bhavna is an architecture graduate with a master’s degree in Business Administration & Marketing. She has worked on large scale architecture and interior design projects ranging from institutional, commercial, retail to residential projects throughout Asia and the Middle East. Bhavna brings with her a wealth of experience in design consultancy, project management and luxury goods industry. Her diverse work experience and broad educational background enable her to merge architectural design with business strategies to produce holistic, integrated and client-focused solutions. With her problem solving skills, and hands-on experience, Bhavna can address the demanding needs of any project at any phase. She takes a creative and adaptable approach in a complex and continuously changing environment.

 

 

Kimming Yap

Kimming is an entrepreneur and the Managing Director of Creativeans, an interdisciplinary creative company based in Singapore, Milan and Jakarta. An expert on brand and design strategies, Kimming has served clients in a broad range of industries, including lifestyle, fast-moving consumer goods, healthcare, beauty, food & beverage, furniture, consumer electronics and government. He regularly conducts presentations on the subject of branding and design, and seats on the judging panel of Singapore Prestige Brand Awards. Kimming holds a Master’s Degree in Design.

 

 

Jack Chia

Jack is the Executive Director of MP International, a leading organiser of trade shows, conferences and special meetings. Headquartered in Singapore, the company was set up in 1987. Since then, the MP Group of companies has expanded across Asia and Europe. Jack joined MP in 2011 as Director of Lifestyle Events, and has since spearheaded several key events. He is currently in charge of business and strategic development of the group. At the same time, Jack heads the project team for the INTERPOL World Expo in Singapore in 2015. Prior to joining MP, Jack was with the Pico Group, a leading total brand activation company which is public listed in Hong Kong. He was with Pico for over a decade and gained cross-industry experience working with high profile brands around the region. These included government bodies such as Singapore Tourism Board, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, World Expo Shanghai and global organisations such as Motorola, BASF, Sony, Oracle, DaimlerChrysler, IMG and HSBC. Jack graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (Cum Laude), from Babson College in Massachusetts, USA.

 

 

Li Sue-Ann

Sue-Ann holds a LL.B. degree from the University of Bristol and was called to the Singapore Bar in May 2008. She assists clients across various industries in supervising and managing their local and international trademark portfolios. She is actively involved in developing and implementing effective intellectual property protection and enforcement strategies both locally and worldwide for her clients. She also has experience in the technology and telecommunications field, having assisted multi-national companies in regulatory issues, reviewing and drafting IT services agreements, software licence agreements, privacy policies and website terms and conditions. In addition, Sue-Ann represents clients in contentious matters and has handled cases at Registry level and in the High Court, including trade mark oppositions, invalidation, revocation and infringement actions. She started her career doing general litigation and dispute resolution and has represented clients in criminal and civil cases in the higher courts, adjudication, mediation and arbitration. Sue-Ann enjoys engaging with business owners and is regularly involved with different associations to provide their members with legal advice.

Jean is a strategic communications professional that has more than 16 years of experience in engaging the media and its related stakeholders. She started her career as a PR Consultant in some of the world’s most reputable and largest PR firms, working mainly with Fortune 500 clients.

Today, Jean heads up external communications at Southeast Asia’s third largest bank and ensures that the bank’s rich heritage, the values it stands for and business and industries that they lead in are well-profiled in the media and to the stakeholders that matter, not just in Singapore but across its key markets as well.
