On 20 October 2015, 70 pioneers in the design sector were honored for their significant contributions to the development of Singapore in the last 50 years. The pioneer designers received the award from Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information, at the Singapore Design Golden Jubilee Award Ceremony held at the National Design Centre.
This event was organised by the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), supported by Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS). The panel was chaired by Mr Tai Lee Siang, President of DesignS, an alliance of design industry associations in Singapore.
The recipients come from diverse design fields in place-making, object-making and image-making, including Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Product and Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Advertising, Visual Communications, as well as Design Education.
Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS) has also put up a few nomination for this Design Golden Jubilee Award.
